Welcome one and all!

Who is Jenny?
I am an Irish musician, composer/songwriter and teacher. I am part of a number of ensembles as a percussionist and bassist. When ensembles are stuck for a musician, I am always asked to help out. As well as this, I am proud to pass on my knowledge of music in the form of teaching young children how to read music. When I am not teaching or participating in competitions, I enjoy playing covers and posting original music onto my YouTube channel.

With the near-lock down happening in Ireland at the moment, I have had a lot more free time for projects, even with my college work. I’m hoping to create something for my YouTube channel. Nothing crazy, but just enough to keep me on my toes musically speaking. Nonetheless, we’ll see how it all goes.

It’s been a while since I gave any updates. Once again, it has been very busy for me, but opportunities have been happening as well. I’m currently involved in a project with some other musicians. Hopefully it shall be fruitful but that’s all I’m going to say on that! I continue to hone my craft on tuned percussion. It never comes to me too easy but it is worth it in the end.

It has been some time since updating this blog and I apologize. Things have been very busy due to my commitments in college and outside of college. All throughout Christmas, I was preparing for my performance exams, one of which I have found out that it’s going to be postponed to January. Frustrating stuff but that’s the way things are sadly. If anything, I have a chance to practice more. Obviously I don’t own a marimba so it is harder to practice but I manage to none the less. With all of this, it’s been hard to find the time to play for pleasure but hopefully I’ll get some downtime soon.

Recently I played with the Ardee Concert Band in a competition in Armagh. Unlike last year we did not win sadly. However, we did come second and the gap between us and the winning band was quite small. It’s always disappointing when you miss out on winning. To a certain extent, it’s even worse when you get second, because you just missed out on winning. Sad as it is, it’s not my first competition and it won’t be my last by any means. There’ll always be the chance to get better and win.
